Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)

For years I suffered tension headaches, face pain, jaw pain, dizziness, and irritability from stress.  When I saw you and learned about TMJ and how a simple mouthpiece could help, my whole life changed.  I noticed immediate results. Thank you, Dr Ysidro, you have changed my life.

Often referred to as the great imposter, TMJ disorder has symptoms that are so varied and mimic other disorders. TMJ disorder is characterized by pain that develops when the bite, the muscles and the temporomandibular joints (the joints that connect the jawbone to the skull) are not in harmony. If your teeth do not fit together correctly the muscles work hard to get them together. Often the muscles become overworked leading to muscles spasms that radiate pain to the head and neck.

TMJ disorder can be caused by grinding or clenching the teeth, a misaligned bite, arthritis, injuries to the head or face, or displacement of the disc in the TMJ. The symptoms of TMJ can include jaw joint pain, clicking or popping of the jaw, headaches, dizziness, nausea, frequent sinus infections, feeling of fullness or congestion in the ears, ringing in the ears, neck and shoulder pain, facial pain, sensitive teeth, or the jaw locking open or closed. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, set up an appointment today to discuss dental options that can correct the misalignment and provide you with TMJ pain relief!
