Sleep Apnea Treatment

There are several options for treating sleep apnea. Mild cases of sleep apnea and snoring can be treated by behavioral modification therapy such as weight loss, and avoiding alcohol before bedtime. For some people, doctors recommend a machine known as a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) which forces air into the throat through a mask attached to the head.

Another very successful treatment for mild cases of sleep apnea is an oral sleep appliance therapy. Dr. Ysidro can fit you with an oral sleep appliance that holds the lower jaw forward opening the airway without the need of obtrusive head gear forcing air into your throat.  Oral sleep appliances are also great to treat snoring allowing a better night's rest for everyone.  Oral sleep appliances are easy to get accustomed to and are easy to take with you when you travel. Remember though, it is important to be properly diagnosed by a sleep physician before undergoing any oral appliance therapy.
